The diversity of our vast history, with the complex history of Luxembourg as its common thread. Art, culture, influences, interactions...Corinne Kohl focuses on the 19th century in Luxembourg, Europe, and elsewhere. This century marks the transition between the ancient world and our contemporary one; like all transformations, these are the consequences of revolutions and major artistic, economic, political, and social upheavals.

📅 11 November – The Women Who Shaped Luxembourg
Through the lives of remarkable women who left their mark on their time – and on Luxembourg’s history – this talk traces the country’s story while exploring the changing role and perception of women in society, from Luxembourg’s earliest days to the major breakthroughs of the 1970s.
📅 16 December – The Belgian Congo: A Luxembourg Connection (1908–1960)
How did the Congo become one of the defining symbols of European colonialism? Through its extraordinary history, this talk explores imperial rivalries, the ambitions of Leopold II and the era of the Belgian Congo. It also sheds light on a lesser-known chapter of Luxembourg’s history: the many Luxembourgers who took part in this colonial venture.
📅 27 January – Luxembourg Women: Breaking Barriers in Sport
Through the stories of pioneering athletes and champions, discover the history of women’s sport in Luxembourg. Beyond sporting achievements, this talk explores how access to sport reflected changing attitudes towards women’s bodies, their place in society and their gradual journey towards greater freedom.
📅 26 May – A History of Emotions: The Birth of Modern Sensibility
What if emotions could shape history? This talk explores how the 19th century profoundly transformed the way we experience and express our feelings, from our private lives to major collective upheavals. Revolutions, the rise of nations, faith in progress and fears of modernity: discover how emotions helped shape Europe and accompanied Luxembourg into the modern age.
📅 16 June – The Roaring Twenties: Dancing on the Edge
The 1920s are remembered for jazz, parties and a carefree spirit. Yet beneath the excitement, an increasingly fragile balance was beginning to emerge. As the decade unfolded – largely unnoticed at the time – the foundations were being laid for one of the greatest crises of the 20th century.
