WELCOME THURSDAYS

For 30 years, friendship and curiosity have been the watchwords of the Thursday Welcome. This year, a whole new team welcomes you.

This group discovers the latest exhibitions, exclusive lectures, and a few excursions to discover the treasures of Luxembourg and the Greater Region two Thursdays a month. The program through February 5 is already available.

We will present it to you on September 18th during a breakfast at the Reception and we will start gently on October 2nd with a visit to the LUGA in the company of Ann Muller, project manager. We look forward to seeing you in large numbers and in great shape."

ANNUAL PROGRAMME 2026–2027

Thursday, 1 October – Welcome Coffee followed by a visit to the MNHA to discover Berthe Brincour, a truly unconventional and timeless artist.

Thursday, 22 October – Visit to Château de Septfontaines with Gabrielle de Theux de Schorlemer.

Thursday, 12 November – A Day in Nancy: Celebrating Art Nouveau
A day trip to Nancy, celebrating Art Nouveau with an exceptional exhibition devoted to Émile Gallé, one of the movement’s most iconic and visionary figures. The price includes transport, guided tours and lunch (drinks not included).

Thursday, 26 November – Guided tour of the Rau Collection exhibition at the MNHA.

Thursday, 10 December – Visit to the Transport Museum in Hollerich, followed by Christmas lunch at Bouillon Batignolles. The price includes lunch and drinks.

Thursday, 14 January – Talk by Mrs Beck: UNESCO – Its Mission, Vision and Challenges in a Fragmenting World, at Banque de Luxembourg.

Thursday, 28 January – A Day at BRAFA
Join the Accueil français de Bruxelles for a day at BRAFA. The participation fee includes coach travel and admission to the fair. Lunch is at your leisure, with plenty of options available on site, including a champagne bar, tapas bar, restaurants and snacks.

Thursday, 11 March – Talk by Sophie Noël-Roelants: The Myth of the Seasons, at Banque de Luxembourg.

Thursday, 15 April – Guided visit to the Cinémathèque archives.

Thursday, 29 April – A Day in Reims: French Excellence Through the Centuries
From the soaring vaults of Reims Cathedral to champagne cellars carved deep into the rock, discover centuries of French heritage and craftsmanship. The price includes transport, guided tours and lunch.

Thursday, 13 May – Talk by Isabelle Bernard: Gargoyles – A Fascinating World in Stone, Past and Present, at Luxembourg Accueil.

Thursday, 27 May – Discovering Northern Luxembourg
A day trip to northern Luxembourg, including a visit to the country’s smallest village and a meeting with painting conservator Claire Merenz in her studio in Arsdorf. The price includes private coach travel (from Ettelbruck) and lunch.

June 7-11 - Trip to the Bay of Somme

Monday, June 7

All my life I felt hunted because I didn't paint like the others. The Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis is the only museum created by Matisse during his lifetime, inaugurated in November 1952. Matisse himself gifted his hometown a collection of 82 works and decided on the placement of each one.

8 a.m. Departure from Luxembourg to Le Cateau-Cambresis (3h30)

12pm Lunch at the Museum's Café

2 p.m. Guided tour of the museum

4pm Departure towards St Valery sur Somme

6:30 PM Arrival in St Valery (2.5 hours), check-in at the Hotel Cap Hornu, relaxation

7:30 PM Dinner at the hotel

Tuesday, June 8

Departure at 9am on foot for a crossing of the bay or by train at 11am to Le Crotoy

Lunch in Le Crotoy, at the Bistrot de la Baie

Return by train

Wednesday, June 9

Departure from the hotel at 9:30 am towards the Marquenterre Park

Visit to the Marquenterre park (our bus drops us off there), ideally explored by horse-drawn carriage.

Lunch at the Gardener's Workshop

Visit to Valloires Abbey and its gardens renovated by Gilles Clément

Dinner at the hotel

Thursday, June 10

Departure for Amiens (1 hour)

Guided tour of the old town, the picturesque St Leu district and the cathedral.

Lunch at the Le Quai restaurant in the St Leu district.

Visit to the market gardens in traditional boats with a visit to the International Garden Festival.

8:30 am Departure for a guided tour of the Louvre-Lens

12pm Lunch on site at the museum's gourmet restaurant, L'Atelier du Cerisier

3pm Return to Luxembourg (arrival at 7pm)

The estimated price of this trip is €XX. We propose a first deposit of €500 on October 15th, a second deposit of €500 on March 15th, and the balance on May 15th, 2027.
