HEDDA

January 14, 2024, 5 p.m.

Grand theater, 1 bd Robert Schuman, 2525 Luxembourg

Hedda , directed by Aurore Fattier, whose Othello was seen by Luxembourg audiences in 2018, offers a new look at Ibsen's great classic, which Marja-Leena Junker staged in 2020, with Myriam Muller in the lead role.
Hedda immerses us in the last days of rehearsal for Hedda Gabler . Laure Stijn, a director in mid-life, from a large family of artists, is grappling with the work of the Norwegian playwright. The course of her work is punctuated by surfacings of memories, gradually obsessing, of her sister Esther, a young actress who died some fifteen years earlier. It is this unexpected, dizzying path that we travel with her until the blossoming of her show.

For this production by the Théâtre de Liège, a long-standing partner of the Théâtres de la Ville, Aurore Fattier is surrounded by a renowned European cast.

"The intelligence of the staging is to constantly cross the fiction "fiction" (Ibsen's play) and the fictionalized "reality" (the rehearsals of the latter). (...) Of an incredible dramaturgical richness, the play addresses a multitude of questions thus offering the actors a formidable machine to play."
